Summer’s biggest holiday has arrived! Serendipity loves any kind of party and the Fourth of July can bring on the best of them. We’d like to share a few ideas with you to make your party pop!

The Fourth can be more than burgers and hot dogs. Try barbecued ribs or jerk chicken for a casual twist. You could even grill ahead of time and serve at room temperature to save yourself stress at the party. What is a Fourth of July without corn on the cob? We like using tangy lime butter or a dash of Sriracha sauce to spice up this classic dish! Try a cool watermelon salad tossed with feta, basil, and red onion. Summer desserts are notorious for playing up the Red, White and Blue theme and, why not? If you are pressed for time, dress up a store bought cheesecake with blueberries and strawberries. Or, to keep kids occupied (and adults happy!), set up a make-your-own-cupcake bar. Set out un-frosted cupcakes along with white frosting, blueberries, strawberries, shaved coconut, blue jelly beans and Red Hot candies. See what kind of “firecracker” cupcakes they come up with!

When it comes to drinks, make sure you have lots of ice! For something new, try seeping fresh herbs in lemonade or iced tea. To really kick things up, try having a Red, White, and Blue bar: feature sangria for Red, blue margaritas for Blue, and gin and tonics or mojitos for White.

Aside from the usual plastic tablecloths, there are many casual options when decorating for the Fourth. For centerpieces, fill vases with patriotic pin-wheels, which can also serve as party favors. Blue and white hydrangeas lend a rustic and sophisticated look to any Fourth gathering. Use red and blue bandannas for napkins, tie ribbons around mason jars to display silverware, and hang red, white, and blue paper lanterns from the trees. Keeping it simple with small patriotic touches will help to keep your party cool and classy!

From the Serendipity Team, have a wonderful and safe Fourth!
