With just six weeks left until Labor Day, it is not too late to plan your summer company party.  A company gathering, such as a picnic, BBQ, pool party, etc., is a great way get your crew’s morale boosted high before the seriousness of fall sets in, and (gulp) we all get on the runway to the holidays.

The Venue & Games

Picking an outdoor venue for a corporate event is easy in the summertime, between backyards, our many local parks and gardens, lakes, and reservoirs, there is a space for any party.  For a smaller work team, perhaps a co-workers backyard will do.  For a larger event, look into renting a beach area at a reservoir many times these areas come with a barbeque on-site and a friendly game of beach volleyball can be set up!  If you are in need of a more familBocce Ball Grassy oriented place, look for a nearby park with a water feature to keep the kids entertained.

It is inevitable that shoptalk will come up at a company party.  Try to give everyone (and their spouses) a break from thinking about work by having a game or two available for guests to jump in on!  Easy yard games like croquet, bocce ball, volleyball, and badminton are quick, easy summer activities for kids and adults.

Outdoor Game Ideas for Picnics

Pick a Theme!

We always love a good Summer Fiesta theme! For summertime there are lively ones to choose from: a variety of beach parties  from luaus to clambakes, picnics, a summer fiesta, pool party (if you have access to one) or simply a BBQ.  Have the food reflect your theme.  Decorating for outdoor parties is simple! Just add a few small touches such as tiki torches and leis for a luau or red and white checkers for a picnic or barbeque.  Use colorful bandannas for napkins and let the feel of summertime take over the rest. For parties that include kids, we always recommend having a make-your-own food station such as a hot dog or hamburger bar, ice cream sundae bar, or a decorate your own cupcake.

If the budget allows, a company party favor is nice.  When it is a little more high-end than the typical favor, try to give something the guests can really use such as re-usable water bottles, coffee mugs, paperweights, or key chains. Customize the favors with individual names or the company logo. After all, the point of a company party is to show appreciation for employees!
