Although there may never be enough thanks you can give to mom—make mom’s day on Mother’s Day by surprising her with something she will really love this year! Because let’s face it—the list is small of gifts that you could give mom that she would not love, especially if they are personalized by you! Ditch the boring bouquet but keep the floral inspiration with these DIY flower themed gift ideas for Mom:

Perfume

Nothing may smell like home more than mom’s lingering perfume after a long hug. Add a little floral fragrance to mom’s comforting scent with a Fresh Flower Petal Perfume!

Supplies:
1 cup your choice of fresh flower petals
5 drops essential oil
1/2 cup vodka
3 cups distilled water
Glass jar
Glass bottle

Directions:
Decide on scent (get creative with fragrance combinations) and pluck petals off of flowers. Place flower petals in a glass jar and cover with vodka. Let sit for 24 hours. Using a spoon, mash the petals to release the oils, then add distilled water. Cover and let sit for a few days. Every day, use a spoon to mash the petals even further. When fragrance is where you want it, strain the mixture into a glass perfume bottle and store in the fridge until you’re ready to use it.  Make sure to shake perfume before using to blend the oils.

Chocolate

Give mom chocolate that will be hard to resist, no matter how pretty it may be! These Edible Floral Chocolate Bars will have mom savoring in sweet floral delight.

Ingredients:
White chocolate chips
Coconut Oil
Edible flowers
Silicone chocolate bar mold

Directions:
Remove petals from flowers, pluck enough to fill your mold. Place the petals into the bottom of your mold (only add a few so chocolate can still be seen in final result). For every 2 cups of chips, add one tsp. of coconut oil into microwavable bowl. Melt your chocolate chips in microwave for 1 1/2 to 2 minutes. Remove from microwave and stir until smooth. Microwave for a few more seconds if needed, be careful to not overcook chocolate. Pour chocolate slowly into mold (do not overfill mold!) Shake the mold gently to fill in any gaps and then gently tap on a flat surface to remove any air bubbles. Place into the freezer for about 15 minutes. Gently remove the bar from the mold and wrap as desired for gifting!

Fridge Magnets

Give mom the a perfect gift that keeps on giving, even long after spring has left! These Spring Flower Magnets (along with her favorite photos) are so easy to make, and will help remind mom every day of life’s special moments!

Supplies:
Silk flowers (get them at any craft store)
Super glue
Strong Ceramic Magnets
Scissors

Directions:
Gently pull the flower heads off the stems (if the flowers won’t detach easily, use wire cutters to snip them off). Trim off any extra plastic “stem” so flower is as flat as possible. Set aside along with leaves that you want to use. Squeeze a generous amount of super glue onto magnet. Place flower and any leaves onto the magnet, and press firmly until the glue is set. Allow glue to dry completely before using. Be sure to print out mom’s favorite photos or write a nice note for mom to post on the fridge!

Mother’s Day Dessert

When the wonderful Mother’s day meal you prepared is eaten and all the gifts are opened, add the cherry on top of the best Mother’s Day for mom with this Mother’s Day Flower Pot Dessert!

Ingredients:
Mom’s favorite ice cream
Fresh flowers
Mom’s favorite cookies
Tin foil
Clear straws
Small terra cotta pots
Flags with decorative letters
String or twine

Directions:
Line the terra cotta pots with tin foil and fill 2/3 of pot with ice cream. Make sure cookies and ice cream combo pair well together. Crush up some cookies for the “dirt” (darker cookies are best like Oreos) and set aside. Cut the straws to be just a little higher than the level of the ice cream. Bend end of straw and stick into icecream. Trim the flower stems to the desired length and place them into the straws. Take cookie crumbs and pour around the flowers. Make sure to completely cover the top of the ice cream. Take flags and glue/thread them onto string and tie around your pot. Remove flowers and set in freezer until ready to serve.
